River Oaks is a planned community of Single Family Homes and Townhomes on Route 1 between Woodbridge and Dumfries. It is situated on the Cherry Hill Peninsula. There is a community center with an outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, tot lots and biking and walking trails. Within the neighborhood you will find an elementary school (River Oaks Elementary) and the new Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School. It is the only Catholic High School built in Prince William County.
The long range plans of the greater Cherry Hill Peninsula, including Southbridge, River Oaks, and Harbor Station call for a 18 hole golf course, a town center of 3.7 million sq ft of office and retail space, a marina, a library, a cultural arts center, equestrian center and a VRE stop on the Potomac River.
River Oaks is just a few minutes from I-95 and Route 234, just off U.S. Route 1, making all the best that Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia have to offer easily accessible including historic sites and museums, sporting and cultural events, outdoor recreation, fine dining and shopping at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, Potomac Mills, or Tyson's Corner.

River Oaks is conveniently located with easy access to I-95, Viriginia Railway Express (VRE), and commuter bus routes. .
- It's a short trip from River Oaks to the commuter parking lot at Route 234 and US 1 to board the express commuter bus to the PENTAGON and WASHINGTON, DC
- The same parking lot is home to a SLUG LINE with rideshare opportunities to both the Pentagon and Washington, DC locations
- Quantico Marine Base, The Crossroads of the Marine Corp, is only 6 miles away and Ft Belvoir, the Pentagon and other military installations in the greater DC area are within easy commuting distance
